What Happens Before Surgery?
* We encourage patients to see their general practitioners prior to attending Mr. Rowe-Jones's Nose Clinic and to request a referral letter.
* Mr. Rowe-Jones will see you for an initial consultation which lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. He feels it is very important to discuss rhinoplasty with you personally rather than you having a preliminary consultation with a nurse only. During this time he will ask what your aims are. He will examine the inside and outside of your nose, take digital photographs and then analyse your nasal deformity with you.
The analysis enables a specific operative plan to be produced for you. Discussion of your plan in detail helps both patient and surgeon to have realistic expectations.
Where appropriate computerised profile planning will also be used and the planned surgical changes demonstrated to you on the computer with your photographs. It is important to understand these images are a guide and not a guarantee of surgical outcome. The limitations and risks of surgery will be discussed. We provide you with an estimate of the cost of your rhinoplasty. We advise that you carefully think over what you have discussed and allow time to pass before finally deciding whether to proceed with surgery. A 2nd visit may be helpful to discuss things further.
