What is Rhinoplasty?
* Rhinoplasty is an overall term used to describe a range of surgical procedures which may be used to re-shape the nose.
* Primary rhinoplasty refers to operations on noses that have not had previous surgery.
* Secondary or revision rhinoplasty is surgery on noses that have had 1 or more previous operations that have not produced the desired change.
* Aesthetic or cosmetic rhinoplasty refers primarily to surgery aimed at improving the appearance of the nose.
* In some cases nasal deformity on the outside is associated with deformity on the inside causing blockage. Functional rhinoplasty refers primarily to corrective surgery aimed at relieving nasal blockage. It is possible to perform aesthetic and functional rhinoplasty at the same time.
