What Happens After My Rhinoplasty?

What Happens After My Rhinoplasty?

A small cast or splint is applied to the outside of your nose at the end of your operation. We avoid putting uncomfortable dressings inside the nose routinely. You may go home the same day, or stay in hospital overnight. You will be seen in clinic a week after your surgery, when the external splint and any stitches are removed.

Eight to twelve weeks after surgery, we will once again see you to check how your nose has healed. We like to follow our patients’ progress and see them for a year to eighteen months.

We recommend that you take one to two weeks off work and avoid both the gym and flying for at least two weeks. Contact sports should be avoided for six weeks as it takes this long for your nose to heal and regain its normal strength.
